Is It Possible for God to Have an Amnesia?

6:49:00 AM

I want to be closer to the Lord this 2017 so I started a Bible reading plan in YouVersion. There are a lot of Bible reading plans in YouVersion from growing up in faith, love life, purity, forgiveness and a lot more. I chose a Bible reading plan about Purity and I am learning a lot from the devotion and the passages that I have read so far.

Pastor Mike leads the devotional in YouVersion. He shared a story about a lady in a church who experienced to be with Jesus in her dream. She shared her wonderful experience to the whole church but the pastor of the church did not believer her. In order to make sure if the lady is really telling the truth, the pastor asked the lady to ask Jesus about the sins that the pastor struggled with when he was a child. The lady said to the pastor that he will ask Jesus when He appeared in her dream again. After few days, the lady joyfully shared to the church that she met Jesus for the second time in her dream. The lady went to the pastor and told him that she saw Jesus again in her dream and the pastor asked the girl about his question. The lady said that she asked Jesus about it and His answer was " I don't remember". God forgets about our sins willfully. It does not mean that He has an amnesia but He really wants to forget and forgive our sins.

I was speechless when I heard the story. It was so amazing because it captures the grace and mercy of God. It tells us how God forgets all of our sins and loves us unconditionally. Pastor Mike talked about Jeremiah 31:34 "And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." It reminded me how blessed I am because of knowing Jesus and having Him as my personal Lord and Savior. And that I must share the joy that I have now because I have Jesus in my life. It reminded me to never get tired of sharing the Gospel to the people around me whether it be by my words or actions.

It also reminded me that Jesus already forgave my sins: past, present and future sins. Now, that is grace. How is that even possible? Through Jesus Christ. Because when God looks at us, He no longer sees our sins but instead He sees Jesus in us. I do not deserve to be called a child of God because of all of my sins. There are times that I feel so disappointed about myself because I keep on commiting several sins. No matter how hard I try to resist the temptation, I always fall into Satan's trap. And the enemy always uses my sins to make me believe that Jesus does not love me and that Jesus cannot accept me because of all of my sins. So hearing this devotion and reading Jeremiah 31:34 is a breath of fresh air. It reminded me of the most basic and fundamental teaching of Christianity, GRACE of God.

It reminded me that Jesus already won the victory when He died on the cross and resurrected from the grave. He already paid for my sins, for all of our sins. I am fighting from His victory on the cross. I have to constantly remind myself that nothing can separate me from His love. I am His forever and ever. So my prayer this year is for God to continuously give me faith to trust in Him that he will help me resist temptation and be more obedient to His teachings. I pray that this year I will have more time with Jesus and make Him my first priority in life.
