You Are Being Prayed For

4:34:00 PM

“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” (Luke 22:31–32)

I appreciate it when people message me and ask me for my prayer concerns. I appreciate when I receive messages saying "prayed for you" or "remembered you in prayer". I love the feeling that there are a lot of people praying for me. Well, I do my own personal prayer but other people's prayers help me whenever I am stressed or I am faced with a lot of challenges in academics, health or personal life. It feels like I am with a lot of soldiers who are ready to fight for me in any battle that I will face.

What's amazing about this passage in Luke is that Jesus is praying for us. What a privilege that Jesus Christ, the God of this universe, is interceding for us. It gives me great peace and comfort that no matter what happens, I have Jesus by my side. He is always there for me and He is praying for me. It gives me strength to face all challenges life has to offer. It encourages me not to give up because Jesus does not give up interceding for me. It overwhelms me that even before I pray to Jesus, He already knows my needs because He is praying for me.

1 Peter 5:8 says, "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour."

The enemy is always ready to snatch us away from Jesus. Satan has thousands of years of experience in tempting people. He knows fully where our Achilles' heels are. I still fall into sin. And there are times that I feel like I can't get out of my sins anymore. There are times that I rely on my own strength to get me out of the pit of sin. I always end up committing the same sin again and I feel frustrated and depressed because I can't get out of the cycle of sinning. Of course, I am no match to the urges of sin. I will fail and I will always fail because I rely on my own strength.

Along the way, I learned to surrender my battles to Jesus. I let Him fight with me. I no longer rely on my own strength but I rely on His infinite strength. I know Jesus saved me and He already paid for my sins. No matter what happens, He will not let the enemy snatch me away from Him. I am His and forever His. He promised in His word that He knows His sheeps, and His sheeps will be preserved and will never perish. I am still a work in progress, we all are. But rest assured that He who began a good work in us will be able to complete it (Phil 1:6).

The word of the Lord became an encouragement to me. The Lord is praying for me so that may faith may not fail. Yes, Jesus told this to Peter but this is applicable to all of us. I love the idea that I am daily being prayed for. You are also being prayed for! I challenge you to pray for a specific person for the coming days of this week, ask them about their prayer concerns and pray for them. By the way, no one's stopping you from doing it in person!
